In this research, plant diversity of ARTEMISIA SIEBERI habitats has been studied in Iran. The habitats situated in hammadas and alluvial plains of central plateau of Iran, with semi-arid, arid and hyper-arid climates. Altitude range of the habitats is 830–2350 m, annual precipitation range 59.5–350.1 mm and average of annual temperature 12.5–20.8°C. Plant specimens were collected from 34 A. SIEBERI habitats in 10 provinces within three vegetative seasons, 2005-2006. The specimens were determined in Central herbarium of Iran by using several floras. Their life forms were recognized according to Raunkiaer method. A total of 372 plant species were identified in A. SIEBERI habitats. They are including two gymnosperms, 318 dicotyledones and 52 monocotyledones, which belong to 42 families and 195 genera. Gymnosperms have one family and one genus, dicotyledones 34 families and 166 genera and monocotyledones seven families and 28 genera. Asteraceae (18%), Chenopodiaceae (10.2%), Fabaceae (8.9%) and Poaceae (7.8%) have the higher numbers of species, respectively. Therophytes with 40 % are the most frequent life form in A. SIEBERI habitats. Hemicryptophytes with 28.8% are situated after them.

Abstract:

Aims Bioproduction methods of nanoparticles are preferrabale to chemical and physical methods because of low energy and time expenditure. The aim of this study was to investigate the biological preparation of silver nanoparticles, using ARTEMISIA SIEBERI. Materials & Methods In this experimental study, the extract of ARTEMISIA SIEBERIhas was used to produce silver nanoparticles by a simple, non-toxic, and low-cost method. Formation of silver nanoparticles was established despite the presence of an absorption peak at 490nm, using spectrophotometer. The size and shape of silver nanoparticles were shown using scanning electron microscopy. Precise size and change range of nanoparticles were measured by Particle Size Analysis (PSA). FT-IR results also indicated the role of different functional groups in the synthetic process. Findings The change in the color of the extract from pale yellow to light brown and absorption peak at about 490nm showed production of silver nanoparticles. The silver nanoparticles were mainly spherical and their diameter was in the range of 27nm to 65nm, and in some regions, they were stacked or scattered together. The mean size of nanoparticles was 70nm and the dispersion of nanoparticles was in the range of 40nm to 140nm. Conclusion The silver nanoparticles derived from the ARTEMISIA are spherical and their mean size is about 70nm. Their dispersion is between 40nm and 140nm.

Abstract:

Artemisinin (Art) has a long time therapeutic history and extensive application in traditional and modern medicine such as anti malarial effect. Although the anticoccidial effect of Art has been studied somewhat, there is no report about its pharmacodynamics in coccidiosis. The aim of this study was to produce polyclonal antibody (Ab) against Art, labeling and using it to trace the site of action of Art in coccidiosis by using immunohistochemsitry method. Since Art is a hapten, it was necessary to conjugate it with a suitable carrier to be immunogenic; therefore a carboxyl group was added to Art by using mixed anhydride method. Then this reactive compound of Art was conjugated with BSA. Immunization with 0.6ML of Art+BSA conjugate was done (IM) in rabbit in two times. In the first injection, the Freund complete adjuvant and in the 2nd injection Freund incomplete adjuvant was used. After two weeks, blood samples were collected, and their serums were separated. Immunoblots technique was used to assay the production of Ab. Saturated ammonium sulphate was used to separation and concentration of Ab and FITC for labeling it. This assay showed that the Ab has been successfully produced against artemisinin in rabbits. This Ab is a fundamental step for pharmacodynamic studies and to detect artemisinin disposition in the blood and body tissues.
